Our sketchwalk this month in Singapore was held at Chinatown to capture the festive mood and atmosphere. One week before Chinese New Year in Chinatown, Singapore The shops are on levels 1 to 3 and community area is on the 4th. I really like the idea that the void deck is raised.

Rocher Centre is definitely one of the more distinctive residential estates in Singapore. There’s Rochor Centre Sketches (Feb 2016) This is Goa Gajah, aka as the Elephant Cave. It was a 5D4N trip where we just drove around the island of Bali, Indonesia, and sketch at the temples near Ubud. Two weeks ago, I went on a sketching trip with James Tan, Don Low and his wife. Landmark buildings around the area include Armenian Church, Central Fire Station and the Old Hill Street Police Station (that you see right at the Sketching the Bali temples We visited Hill Street, one of the oldest streets in Singapore. Here’s the last sketchwalk of 2016 with my friends from the Urban Sketchers Singapore. What was life like back then? Residents in the area have already moved out. As I sketched at Dakota Crescent, I wonder what it was like for residents who have lived here since 1958. New estates in Singapore are getting taller, more crowded and noisier with each passing year.
